About Deputy K9 Kane

Kane, Clark County Sheriff's Office police dog, was stabbed to death during a chase Saturday, April 2, 2011, just one year before retirement.

Officer Rick Osborne and family are deeply saddened and laid Kane to rest in a private, family, burial ceremony.

Central Precinct Commander, Michael McCabe, stated that the department feels honored by our gesture to name a park IN MEMORY OF KANE and to raise funds for the K9 Unit.

A police K9 costs anywhere from $5K to over $10K in donations. All money collected for Kane, from our event and features, will go to the K9 Unit via DOGPAW for expenses like the purchase and training of a Police K9. DOGPAW's goal is to fundraise $2,500 for the Police K9 Unit, until we soon close the above fundraising features.

The dog park within Hockinson Meadows Community Park has been approved to be named Kane Memorial Dog Park. Once the community park is finished, we will move from the temp 2-acre site into a much larger area.

The Police will be holding a remembrance ceremony for K9 Kane to recognize his service to the department and the community. The ceremony is open to the public.
