DOGPAW Park

Kane Memorial Dog Park within Hockinson Meadows Community Park ::.
Hockinson OLA

This site is named in honor of Kane, the Clark County Police K9 killed in the line of duty. It is 2-acres of open rustic terrain with forested areas. This long-term temporary spot will remain, until the master plan dog area is built. Visitors must walk their leashed dog from parking (1/3 mile) into this temp dog area, N of ball fields and parking (opened 2-19-11).

Hockinson Meadows Community Park (China Ditch) is a beautiful 240-acre multi-use community park. In development, significant consideration was given to wetlands and sports fields. Approximately 5.5-acres, with 43 parking spaces, is included for off-leash use in the northern half of the long-term master plan.

The estimated cost of building the long-term master plan is estimated at over $25M. Therefore, building will be done in phases. Preliminary site prep was completed in fall 2007, with construction beginning in spring 2008. Phase 1 focuses on developing the south side of the park only. The dog park is located in the north section of the park, so it is NOT included in Phase 1. Parks will be able to add the dog park (one of the unfunded features) to a future phase, when more funding is available.

Features:
  • Fenced with Double-Gated Entries
  • Open and Forested Areas w/Flat Terrain
  • 2-acres (all dog sizes)
  • 1/5 Mile of Trail
  • Dog Drinking Fountain* (outside near ball field)
*Water will be shut-off during the winter freeze.
(typically frost is mid Oct thru late Apr)

Fees: Tax deductible donations are welcomed by DOGPAW.

Hours: 7:00 am to dusk or "daylight", subject to maintenance closings.
(day use areas - those within community parks are only open 7-dusk)
