Hockinson / China Ditch (CLOSED-Under Construction)::.
NEWS RELEASE:
CLOSED - Under Construction.
Estimated Opening - Fall 2009.
Hockinson has a beautiful 240-acre site, located west of NE 172nd Ave and south of NE 119th St. In developing this into a large multi-use community park, significant consideration was given to wetlands and sports fields. Approximately 5 fenced in acres (NW or NE corner) is included for off-leash use in the long-term master plan.
The estimated cost of building the long-term master plan is estimated at over $25M. Therefore, building will be done in phases. Preliminary site prep was completed in fall 2007, with construction beginning in spring 2008. Phase 1 focuses on developing the south side of the park only. The dog park is located in the north section of the park, so it is NOT included in Phase 1. Parks will be able to add the dog park (one of the unfunded features) to a future phase, when more funding is available.
