We are going through alot of bags at both parks, so if you could bring some to donate that would really help out. Please be sure to put them in the bins, not leave them out where they can blow away or get wet. Please be sure to stop your dog from digging any holes and fill them in immediately. An open hole can create a trip hazard for both dogs and people. We will be planning to fix current holes in an upcoming work party (date not determined yet). It is very important that you watch your dogs at all time. We are pleased that the parks have become a gathering place for folks, but the number one priority has to be safety, so go ahead and visit with your friends, but keep you eyes on your dogs while you do it. Just this morning there was an incident where a dog was in a fight and the owner was across the park completely unaware of the situation. Additionally, with the increase in visitors, there is an increase in poop. Your eyes need to be on your dog so you know when they are going and others should feel free to point out to someone if they are not aware their dog has pooped. Frustrated neighbors at Vandervort have taken pictures when they have observed folks not watching their dogs. A reminder about children in the park: It is not safe to have children playing in the off leash parks. Any children in the park must be closely supervised by an adult. To those folks who use Vandervort, we have heard concerns about how muddy the park has gotten, but unfortunately due to our temporary occupation of this space, we are not allowed to put down any chips. One of our members, Karen Smolin, had a wonderful suggestion for those that might be interested. She made a donation to the Laurelwood Baptist Church to thank them for their allowing us to use the parking lot. Without the church allowing the parking, we would not have been allowed to use Vandervort as a temporary site. thanks Karen for a great idea. A reminder that parking is not allowed in the church lot on Sundays from 8a-2p and the driveway next to the dog park is an exit only!!! Please enter from the side street. We will be sending out a vote to the membership in the next couple days to get your input for which site we develop next. We will be looking for volunteers to help us in creating these new locations. Thanks again for your support of Dogpaw. **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms and advice on AOL Money & Finance. (http://money.aol.com/tax?NCID=aolcmp00300000002850)
