It states that users should not visit the site before Monday, which is a bit confusing. The park is NOT OPEN, the fencing is not complete, no gates installed, etc. We are waiting to hear back from Vancouver Fire Department, who is having the fencing installed, as to when the contractor will be done. We were told it would be sometime this week. Additionally, a change in the fencing had to be made to accommodate the concerns of the neighborhood group who filed a petition to stop the dog park. Instead of 8 acres for the off leash park, it will be 7 acres, with 1 acre left open for neighborhood children to play in. This was a big concern of the neighbors that we were taking all of the space their kids use for recreation. AS SOON AS WE GET THE WORD EXACTLY WHEN THE PARK WILL BE OPEN, WE WILL GET A MESSAGE OUT AND PLACE A SIGN AT PACIFIC. Dogpaw was contacted by the Columbian about an article they are planning to run this coming Wednesday, on the front page of the Neighbor section, about the growing popularity of off leash parks.
